House This!? Maison d'Angle in Paris

I've been looking for something 'new' to offer in my Etsy store. I came up with an 1880 house blueprint! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=39998787
Fingers crossed and knock on wood, I'm going to Europe this spring and I just gotta see if this house is still there. The blueprint is labeled as Maison d'Angle on Rue Hippolyte Le Bas, No. 8. Designed for a Monsieur Roblin by Monsieur Descaves.
I think the house was mis-named. With that stairway, I see it as the Maison d'ANGELS. I know the blueprint only shows 6 levels but I 'see' Seventh Heaven and Stairway to Heaven when I look at this graphic. What about you?
The scan I have listed is only half of the design. I'll be getting the other half plus another house blueprint listed bientot, perhaps tomorrow. I also have some awesome blueprints of elevator gears that will be perfect for Steampunk designs. But again, that will have to wait a bit. Today is my 'work' day when I shed my Zebra pajamas and actually punch a time clock and then tonight I have yoga.
Yes, yoga. I've started going to yoga classes twice a week and my body is in shock. I'm fresh out of antique French yoga postcards, but like the ballerina, I've been doing some standing on one leg routines, plus some killer thigh stretches called Warrior Stance and the unforgettable Down Dog. Gawd, I hate Down Dog. If you ever watch a sleeping dog (or cat) wake up and stretch -- the way they put their paws out front, stick their arse up in the air and stre-t-t-t-c-c-h. That's the Down Dog. I guess if a cat does it, it's the Down Cat. But whatever you call it, I still hate it.
Yoga coupled with the fact that I worked most of the weekend with my blog blitz and my sleep has been poorly lately has left me feeling as if beaten with a baseball bat:) I missed blogging yesterday but felt it important to listen to my body. So I spent time resting and reading a time-travel mystery. Yes, it's Heckety's fault! http://hecketyathome.blogspot.com/
Isn't the World Wide Web amazing? Well, in this particular case, it's not a Maze, but a Labyrinth, the first in a series of books by Kate Mosse, and I learned about this talented author from Heckety, a blogger in Ireland. SO, when I don't get any work done, thanks to the World Wide Web, I can blame someone half-way around the globe!
Labyrinth is one of those stories that you know can't have too happy of an ending because it revolves around the genocide of the Cathars, a religious sect in southern France. But the reason I am so compelled to read it is because it is set in Carcasonne, which is one of France's best preserved medieval cities. It is one of the places I visited when I made my first solo trip to France in 1993. It's also the place I went back to visit with my daughters in 2001. It's where I had my first-ever open-fire roasted pizza and where I almost ran over the French lady and her dauchsund. My girls love to tell that story!
Today is my oldest belle fille's birthday! She is the beauty on the right in the photo below, taken as you might guess, in front of the Louvre.
Happy birthday, Jennifer!
Later this month will be Hollie's birthday. She is the beauty on the left. The girl in the center is my 'bebe.' Why is her hair blue? Ah...but that's another story ...

Wonderful blueprint. it looks to me like it is still there. I used pages jaunes, which I also used successfully to check out the location of an apartment I was going to rent in Paris. It's sort of like Google, but better. I couldn't find a way to send the specific link, but you can enter the address and look at the building here:

I'm glad you like 'Labyrinth' I certainly did, and 'Sepulchre'. Fascinating bits of history (love history too!)

The blueprint looks interesting, and Christine H says its still there!

Christine, that is so neat! Thank you for looking that up. So...how did apartment hunting in Paris go? It's not possible to get anything convenient for under 100 euros nowadays, is it?

Heckety, I'm so glad I can blame you for not working and you are OK with that:)hehehe Ms. Mosse's writing style is very detailed and rich. I love all the reseach that goes into books like hers. Thanks again for tipping me off to her series.

I love doing yoga, but the Downward Dog isn't my favourite pose...hurts my legs too much! I really like the pigeon...have you done that one yet?!

Trishia,
I think it is possible to get a decent and convenient place for under 100 a night in Paris. My parents have a place that they go to again and again and they are very frugal. The place I rented was quite large (900 square feet)and was not so expensive, but there was a one-month minimum. Let me know if you want some contact info.

Wow! It's a vintage blueprint. I mean, it is very artistic and I see it so classic. Nowadays, we see blueprints of various kinds or even house designs in 3D. I just feel the French era upon looking at the blueprint. I wonder if such building if constructed today will make use of laser scanning service to get to each detail.

So far, here in Canada, when we go to inspection services, most old structures also acquire this new technology in terms of maintenance. I hope to hear more from you after your tour. Thanks again for sharing!
