FRENCHKISSED NOTE: Fellow bloggers, please pass the word about this art challenge and let your readers know about it, too! Here's your challenge! Whaddya think? Have you ever seen this rose "enamelware" scan in my Etsy shop? It has been there quite awhile and I have been totally surprised at how "under loved" it is. So I decided I would make it the main attraction of this contest!
I've often thought of starting a category in my store called Mystery. Folks would click and look just to see what the "mystery" was. It would contain scans that make me shake my head and say, "Well, it's a mystery to me why no one likes this."
Not that I take it personal if a scan isn't a best seller. It's not like I need therapy or anything ...Well, yes, but not for that reason:)
I love the colors and design. Roses! Pink! What's not there to love? I love the mix of the curves with the graph lines.
The lines also give you the impression that you're looking at a tile design. Like in the Paris subways -- all the lovely art designs in the tiled walls underground.
My original postcard is an advertisement for a shop that produced enamelware products. "Email" in French refers to that beautiful glazed finish on graniteware, street signs, etc. The back of the advertising card says that Louis Canard's coatings are better than faience and cheaper -- starting at only 6 francs per square meter.
When I first got into selling French items, I sold a lot of enamelware. I've a funny story to tell on myself ...but I'll save that for another post. Now, back to the contest. I'm not into a bunch of rules.
1.Just create something, anything -- a greeting card, an ATC, a page journal -- using all or part of the rose enamelware scan in your design. Alter, add, just use one part, transfer to glass or fabric or whatever -- but take the scan and turn it into your own new original creation.
2.Email me a photo or scan of your finished piece of artwork. Contest deadline is Sunday, April 11. Hopefully this gives you plenty of time between all your Easter and Spring break activities.
3.Then, I will post all the entries online:)
4. You and your fellow peers will vote on which one is their favorite.
5. The winner gets a lovely package of French stamps. All of those shown in yesterday's post, and beaucoup more. Like this one:
And this one:
This one, too!

Now, I'm not going to stipulate that the winner has to show us what they create or do with the French stamps, but ... we're sure gonna pester you about it:)
P.S. I would appreciate input...I feel a little self conscious about passing on things with my name and address scrawled all over them, but from your perpective, which is easiest to work with? Would you want the entire envelope front and you'll paste and collage over my address OR shall I cut my address part out and send only the stamp sections themselves?
P.S.S.I'm a little ditzier than usual because my mind is sidetracked by the fact that my 'baby' is making a cross-country move by herself. I'm acting as travel agent (hotel hunting as her day winds down), watching my text messages religiously and consulting maps when necessary. SO if I have totally overlooked something in this little art challenge -- I've never hosted one before -- please don't hesitate to let me know. Merci beaucoup!
