Eiffel Tower Freebie!

FRENCHKISSED note: This scan is no longer available as a free download, but you can buy it in my Etsy or Zibbet shop:)Here is the perfect image to help you with all that reflecting on your New Year goals! I have looked at literally tens of thousands of antique Eiffel Tower postcards and I do believe this one is a rarer image. Love that reflection. The little Ferris wheel in the background and the French script. The only thing I think is "missing" is a lovely antique red French stamp .... hmmm...I could add one. Whatdaya think? Maybe later.* But for now, for us purists, I'll offer this one as is:)

This card was mailed June 26, 1908. I get hot just thinking about that. I went to France one June. As I was checking into the hotel room, the sweat was trickling down my back. I thought to myself, "Darn, I feel like I'm in Texas." Of course, my room didn't have an air conditioner. But the hotel proprietor kindly offered me a little fan to put on my bedside table. I could almost sense his trepidation that I was going to be one of those cranky Americans unhappy about no AC. And I confess, after a 9-hour flight, maneuvering my way to the hotel and walking many blocks toting my luggage, I wasn't a smiling Mona Lisa. But, after parking my bags, I headed toward the Eiffel Tower and took a sharp right -- across the river to the Trocodera where there are lots of fountains. In fact, I'm guessing that's where this photo was taken. I stripped off my shoes and socks and dipped my toes in the cool goodness. Then I sprawled out on the green grass and looked up at the Eiffel Tower. I was still sweaty -- but not near as cranky!

A special "merci beaucoup" to Mary for helping me with my French. I've been calling y'all "mon amies" and the proper French is "mes amies" [maze uh mees]. To help me remember that, I'll start calling you amazing mes amies:)
So, Amazing Mes Amies, I want to announce that I'm offering all 10 collage sheets of 2010 Freebies (see Saturday's post) for $35 in my Etsy shop and $32.50 in my Zibbet store. http://www.etsy.com/listing/65190628/10-digital-collage-sheets-antique-french

OH Wow! This is just beautiful thanks so much for sharing. Paris is on my bucket list someday. I can only imagine what it must have been like sitting around the fountains with the Eiffel Tower to look at off in the distance. Sounds like a Nirvana moment to me :)

Hope your enjoying your weekend! It's sunny here in Baltimore today!

This is a gorgeous shot. And when I think that this was taken at a time when there were no wars, and people were pursuing arts and literature (or working their fingers to the bone as laborers), it puts me into a nostalgic mood. How the Great War changed things!

Hi, I found this great construction of the Eiffel Tower with Lego Duplo bricks. The construction is a room high and the children love it!

Making this tower is fun and good for the motoric skills for the youngsters. Have fun!
