FrenchKissed contests: "Love Me Two Challenge" and "Kissed Again!"

"Love Me Two" challenge.
I promise it will be a contest with twice as much fun:)

Your two entries can be identical or different; two versions of the same image or two different images. Mail both to me -- Trishia Jacobs, PO Box 1217, Hood River, Oregon, USA 97031 -- and you'll be entered into the "Love Me Two!" contest. The deadline for entry will be Tuesday, March 13.
*Posts on Feb. 13 , Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 have all 13 "under-loved" images you can choose from. Feb. 14 post also shows the prizes to be awarded to top three contestants.

"Kissed Again!"
Take any FrenchKissed digital scan (free download or a scan you have purchased) and make something with it! You can be entered in the contest one of three ways:
1) Post item you've made with FrenchKissed images on Flickr in the FrenchKissed group.
2) If you have a blog, write a tutorial about how you made it.
3) Email me a picture of it and I'll post it for you!
My goal: I would love to have an inspiring example of what to make/how to use EACH digital scan listed in my shops!
More details and THE prize to come.....Stay tuned and start creating:) I can tell you that the deadline entry will be March 31. So you still have time to wait and use one of the 29 (and counting) freebies that will be posted this month.

French Script Delights

FRENCHKISSED update: These freebies are no longer available here but look for them in my Etsy and Zibbet shops!
Mes amies, here are two shabbily chic French script samples that I thought you would like. One is big, bold -- rather masculine, I would say. And the second one is quite demure and feminine. Ah... Paris.

Now, Blogger has changed their site and I'm none too happy about it. Have no idea why my downloads appear to be 'cut off.' But double click on each image and when it pops up in a new window, you'll see that it is all there. (Unlike some of us....:)I have been planning to start up a Facebook page once again and this prompts me toward that goal all the more.
Right now, I'm not up to wading through their changes, so I'm going to lay low till after the New Year.
For me, 2012 can't come soon enough. I am ready to say good-bye to this year. I have had a very stressful "holiday."
I spent Christmas eve cleaning part of my nephew's apartment. As regular readers know, my nephew has schizophrenia. The only thing worse than the disease is the American medical and legal system that family has to endure trying to get help.
For almost 3 hours, I was engaged in nonstop sweeping, vacuuming, bending over and picking up trash, dirty clothes, magazines and cigarette butts -- 6 mega-size black garbage bags -- and that was only the living room which doubles as his bedroom (and that didn't include cleaning out from under the bed), all the while trying to calm my nephew who didn't want me there and was pitifully stressed by my presence. Needless to say, his stress was stressing me. When I returned the next day to bring him Christmas dinner, he told me not to return for 2 days because his apartment was filled with smiling demons.
It is terrifying to put it mildy to look into someone eye's and not see the person you love and know.
And yet, when I talked to him on the phone today, he raved about how good the ham tasted and he sounded like his old self.
It is quite an emotional roller coaster for everyone involved...

As if all of this wasn't enough, my morning today started with a political email passed around among my family members which was all about Obama's evil Muslim religion and his cancellation of National Prayer Day.
Folks, my body is still reeling from reading it!
I haven't been so angry since I don't know when -- and I don't even plan to vote for Obama.
I am not "for" any political candidate, but I am FOR the truth. And when people opt to spread lies and hatred instead of taking 60 SECONDS to do a Google search and see multiple listings from multiple sources debunking the lies --- THAT really bothers me. When SANE people freely spread lies and hate with total disregard for what is TRUE, factual and accurate, that scares me as much as looking into the eyes of a schizophrenic talking about smiling demons.

So, yeah, I gotta lay low and engage in some escapism. Curl up with some of those Paris mystery books I've checked out from the library. I heard through the grapevine that my in-laws got me "Midnight in Paris" for a Christmas gift -- can't wait to receive it. By the next time you hear from me, I'll probably have watched it a half-dozen times:) So, excuse my 'bad' attitude and all those  words above in all CAPS. I'll see you next year with a new attitude and dreams of Paris. Bonne Annee!

First, thanks so much for the beautiful downloads of French script!!! I am working on a collage right now that most likely has room for at least one of them.

Second, I read with interest your comments about your policital discussion with relatives. The thing about National Prayer Day being cancelled is another one of those FRANTIC! FORWARD TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW! circulating e mails that are essentially meaningless and a total waste of time. Looks like some of your relatives, bless their hearts, believe everything that comes to their in-boxes. These are Urban Legends; they've been around for a long time, and the computer age has simply made it easier to spread this trash. Here is a website that you may be interested in. You can enter almost anything you've heard in the search box, and the site will show you whether it's true or not. Very helpful in this age of stupidity.

I can't link on this site, but I can give you the address:

snopes.com

Just for the record, I am not an Obama fan either, but I refuse to look at the trash stuff that's out there. I've given this website to lots of folks --- I love the truth.

Mary, yes, the snopes link was one I sent in reply,as well as Urban Legends and even About.com. I also found a link to the White House official site with a copy of the 2010 National Prayer Day declaration. All in less than 60 seconds. Fortunately, my brother has already apologized to me BIG time:) And Lili, I thought of you after my anger subsided with that jewel you gave me: educate, don't berate. Thanks ladies for your support:)

Now that I’ve seen these 2 PCs up close... marvellous! I love the “e”s in the first one, very different style, and the ink spatter in the second one is a treat. Thanks again !

No wonder you're looking forward to the end of 2011! I greatly admire you for taking such good care of your nephew. It sounds like a stressful and relatively thankless job, but you know you are doing the right thing.

I hope you don't go to Facebook, because I refuse to do Facebook. I tried it and I thought it was intrusive and depressing. I would be sorry to see you leave blogger :(
Blogger has made some changes recently that have not suited me either. I have to remind myself that the service is generally decent...and free.

Anyway, I wish you an abundance of happiness in 2012. May it deliver everything that 2011 didn't.

Thanks for the loveliest of French script!!! I know how you feel about politics & the fam. I too keep a link to snopes to include in my replies to the urgent chain mails. Can't wait for it to be over.
Best to you in the new year!!

Hey Trishia, The downloads are wonderful...again. I put certain individuals (in-laws) addresses in my SPAM file so they wouldn't come through to my e-mail. Right after the election I was getting so many of those kinds of crap, it would always make my blood boil, and that from only partially reading that junk. I do hope that 2012 brings you all that you're wishing for. Bless you for looking after your nephew. I have do doubt your stress level was maxing out. I'm also NOT a Facebook person so I would miss out on your amazing posts if you leave us. Hope you can deal with or come to terms with the changes Blogger has made.. why do these changes whatever they may be, usually NOT for the better??????

Firstly, thank you again for your generosity. I printed off the Sepia woman, a recent freebie and plan to spend some crafting time making tags. I know you are desperate for 2011 to leave you alone but I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity you gave me this year to be one of your A.I.R.s, it continues to be a personal highlight for me. That is why I was over the moon to see Miss Mary Jane (or as I call her Miss Swiss Miss) to be published for a second time on a card I submitted.
My heart goes out to you. Many an Aunt wouldn't take the trouble to clean and cook for their nephew - I am sure at some level he comprehends the love in those actions.
Here's to 2012 and for you, it cannot come soon enough. In the meantime, I'm with you, curl up with a book (possibly with a little piece of chocolate or whatever tickles your taste buds) and try and relax and avoid such e-mails at all costs!
Warmest Wishes
Lynne
P.S. Sent an e-mail to you recently.

Trishia,

Thanks so much for the postcard backs! I love postcard backs, especially yours because they are always so clear and beautiful!

Your love for your nephew is so apparent in your account of your cleaning for him. I can imagine how difficult it is to see a loved family member suffering...

May you be blessed and may your rest be refreshing, dear friend!

Hi Trishia,

So sorry to hear about your distress with your nephew. About the email you received, if only we could get everyone to check Snopes before they forward these destructive type of emails, the world would be a better please. Our family has also had a bad 2011 with a lot of challenges, so I am looking forward to starting the new year in the hope for better times ahead. Very best wishes to you for a better year ahead and thanks for all the lovely images you post.

Hello Trishia. I'm new here and would first like to say "mille merçi" for the lovely work you share. Even though I live in France and see old postcards all the time, the way you re-work them brings out all their beauty.

Last year I spent about 6 weeks cleaning out the apartment of a deceased family member who was a hoarder, so I can relate to your stress. A few months later I had to convert my painting and craft studio in a room for my nasty mother-in - law who could no longer live on her own. ( long silent scream!) mais c'est la vie et ce qui ne te tue pas te rend plus fort. Hang in there.

Thanks so much for sharing the lovely scripts and your heart. I can't believe there is someone else out there who has such similar life experiences. It bolsters one's courage & perhaps hope. For most of the last decade I had "New Years" November 1st because I couldn't wait for the old year to end, but I decide to hit the reset button on this decade and I stuck it out this year. I hope 2012 is truly a better year for us all. Enjoy Paris and we look forward to you sharing it with us.

As a rule I love the internet with the exception of the total anonymity and lack of accountability that it allows mean-spirited untruths to be spread at lightning speed. I also advocate educate, don't berate and snopes.com is an excellent tool, but most of the people forwarding these trash-mails won't go to snopes to check out the lies because, sadly, they don't want the truth, they want the hate.

p.s. I too dislike Facebook and hope you can stay on Blogger if you can negotiate whatever difficulties they have thrown in your path.
