FrenchKissed contests: "Love Me Two Challenge" and "Kissed Again!"

"Love Me Two" challenge.
I promise it will be a contest with twice as much fun:)
Contest details/where to mail:
Using any of the 13 "Under-loved"* images posted last week, create an ATC, a gift tag, a greeting card, journal page, postcard -- whatever you wanna make. Make TWO OF THEM. Your two entries can be identical or different; two versions of the same image or two different images. Mail both to me -- Trishia Jacobs, PO Box 1217, Hood River, Oregon, USA 97031 -- and you'll be entered into the "Love Me Two!" contest. The deadline for entry will be Tuesday, March 13.
*Posts on Feb. 13 , Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 have all 13 "under-loved" images you can choose from. Feb. 14 post also shows the prizes to be awarded to top three contestants.

"Kissed Again!"
Take any FrenchKissed digital scan (free download or a scan you have purchased) and make something with it! You can be entered in the contest one of three ways:
1) Post item you've made with FrenchKissed images on Flickr in the FrenchKissed group.
2) If you have a blog, write a tutorial about how you made it.
3) Email me a picture of it and I'll post it for you!
My goal: I would love to have an inspiring example of what to make/how to use EACH digital scan listed in my shops!
More details and THE prize to come.....Stay tuned and start creating:) I can tell you that the deadline entry will be March 31. So you still have time to wait and use one of the 29 (and counting) freebies that will be posted this month.

Imaginary Friends and Friends with Imagination

"My, but that's a large egg you've laid, Mrs. Rabbit," the fairy said.
Mrs. Rabbit wiggled her nose and crossed her ears.
"Yes, yes. It's that time of year again. The egg laying is a bit rough and something I prefer to leave to the chickens, but ... well, it's just once a year, and besides, I do love decorating the eggs. I'm thinking of painting some pink roses on this one. Don't you agree? Pink roses?"
"Oh, pink roses indeed! A perfectly natural choice," the fairy said and then instantly vanished in that annoying, mystical, woo-woo way of fairies.
"Humph," Mrs. Rabbit said, twitching her ears again. "I hate it when they do that without even a good-bye. I wanted to ask her opinion on what shade of pink. Pink, yes, but there are so many shades of pink ...."

Mes amies, my prose may fall short, but I do hope that this week's freebies transport you to that 'in-between' world, where art and magic dwell. The above version is closer to my original with a little added help from Jerry (aka Skeletal Mass on Flickr) with my favorite vintage overlay of his that I love to use. I love the shabbily chic look, aged and vintage as much as the next person. But I don't like dirty:) When a postcard has been hanging around for 106 years, it can indeed acquire a little grime. So a little extra layer of paint on the background and Jerry's overlay created the look I wanted. I hope you like it:) And below is the same image but tweaked with that dreamy effect I get from Pixlr.
You will notice that I have put my FrenchKissed copyright on each download. If you print this scan and cut that copyright line off, you're going straight to hell.
OK, OK, just joking:)
No, that little line of text isn't like those annoying tags hanging on pillows and mattresses that we spent decades in mortal fear of removing lest the FBI show up at our door....
There are several reasons I'm going back to adding my business name to the front of my scans. And to be honest, I don't want to delve into that right now and ruin my good mood!ha! But I will say that if you cut off the FrenchKissed name or paint over it, no problem. One reason I put it on the edge as inconspicuously as possible is so that it won't interfere with the image and your beautiful finished art project.
But if you cut off, remove, cover up my name AND resell this image as your own, I'm gonna be like the fly on the toilet lid: Pissed Off.
Enough of that for now.

We have had a cold, cloudy, gray and dark miserable winter and finally, finally we've got snow that's sticking to the ground. We are in a winter wonderland and I'm enjoying it. I walked to the post office earlier with huge flakes falling down in my face. A car drove by and snow slush sprayed out 6 feet. I was laughing and jumping out of the way as fast as I could. I succeeded -- almost:) My failure made me laugh even more.

I feel good, dammit! After all the ranting I've done of late, it feels good to feel good. There are many reasons I feel good right now, but again, I don't have time to go into that. Sometimes with menopause and getting older, you don't even bother to search for the "why" behind why you feel good. You just accept it and relish it and be grateful.
However, I'll say this: one reason I feel good is you:) Your comments, your caring, your commiserating -- your inspiration, too! There is a lot lacking in 'social media' but for some of us who live in isolated, out of the way places, who have small families, who live far way from friends made long ago in past lives that never merge on the same path anymore -- Well, for some us, if it weren't for our online friends, we'd be stuck with imaginary friends like Mrs. Rabbit and that annoying fairy who disappears without a word..... My online friends may be invisible. They may be virtual. But they're real. And so darn talented, to boot!

Well, I've been traveling and it's good to be home and catching up.

You are very funny! AND I agree with you, without our online friends, it would be very lonely!!

Trishia,

I absolutely love this freebie. It's whimsical and romantic. How far can I enlarge it without the image becoming distorted (in your professional opinion)? Thank you for your weekly generosity and beautiful artwork. You thrill me.

I am sorry you've seen your work resold as someone else's creation. Remember, karma is a bitch!

Stay happy...you're making the world a more beautiful place, one postcard at a time!

I was SO happy to read that YOU'RE happy today and may it last a good long while. With no posting yesterday I was concerned there was more upheaveal in your life and I didn't want that for you.
I love this freebie... I'm a rabbit kinda person... and fairies are always good in my book..I think I've got most of the ones you've offered in your shop.
I know I've come to think of you as a friend and always look forward to your posts, whether you're up or down... and hopefully bring a bit of a smile when it's needed. You bring a smile to my face many times, thank you for that.

You are a great writer, Trishia, your intro made me laugh! And very generous, too. I love illustrated rabbits! I even collect vintage Peter Rabbit books.

And what you say about online friendships is very true; they are a blessing for those of us who are isolated.

I am very jealous that you have snow! We’re having torrents of rain down here in the Willamette Valley after a little tease of snowfall yesterday. Rats!

Thank you for the fairy and an egg! Two of my favorite things!

Lili, A 300 dpi scan can be enlarged to 8x10 easily -- I do my test prints on typing paper. There is an issue with keeping the proper ratio. An image 3.5 by 5.5 is going to be 7x10 when doubled. Sometimes you can 'fudge' on that ratio and the distortion is not noticeable. A 1200 dpi scan postcard can be printed poster size:)

Okay, I may not have hit menopause but I am with you as I do feel isolated for reasons I won't go into but having on-line "friends" who understand my need to create, well it doesn't get much better than that. Oh I had to laugh as I had an imaginary friend called Mr Hope. How odd a child I surely was that I didn't have another girl or a dog as a friend but a man and to name him Mr Hope - I was either very wise in my young years or too odd for my own good.
Here I am 43 years of age with more imaginary friends which makes me ponder on the fact, have I not grown up at all!!!
Wishes from one of your Imaginary Friends ...

P.S.
I am not the biggest fan of fairies but this freebie is seriously beautiful.
Thank you again for your generosity.
