Mes amies, what a difference a day makes! As I write this, my nephew is recuperating in a respite center back "home" in The Dalles. We still have many hurdles to cross but it appears that he is once again willing to take his medicine and let us help him....I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday between a hospital in Portland, my brother in Oklahoma and the case workers in The Dalles. Really wanted to bitch slap a few people, but I've been good:) When all you get is voice mails at a 'crisis' center...AAAggghhhh! When a case worker bemoans working overtime 30 minutes (It's past 5 o'clock...!) when I've been through sleepless nights, driving the streets searching for my nephew, going to police stations and exhausted with worry/stress...well, I just don't have any patience with someone moaning about a bit of overtime!
SO I had a brilliant idea:) I'm going to give myself a break [ouch, I hate that word now] Let me rephrase that, I'm posting the rest of this week's daily downloads NOW. The joy of being my own boss. I can make the rules. I can break the rules. [ouch! did I just say that again?!hehe] And you can get started without delay on deciding which images you wanna create with in the "Love Me Two" challenge! And, I've included a few extras. I believe this "Love Me Two" challenge is going to be a regular monthly feature!
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 5 Ghost Bride
Any input/advice/thoughts you have on ANY of these images as to why they have been ignored, shunned and under-appreciated would be greatly appreciated by me!
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 6 Lorgnettes Lady
I love her hat. I love the lorgnettes and the way she's sassily biting on one rim. But ... whatdaya think? Does she need to be cut out? Is the dark background a turn-off? Should I remove the printer's name and symbol? Any ideas?!
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 7 Baby Act III
I think my smart baby is adorable. I thought babies and animals are supposed to be irresistible. What could be the turnoff here? Why has my baby not been LOVED?! WWhhhaaaaa.....!
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 8 Golden Lady
Why have I not sold 10,000 copies of this for tea party invitations?! Should I remove the text at bottom? Is it because the china is not super bold in the photo? She definitely steals the scene, my golden lady...unloved golden lady...but too much of a lady to show her feelings have been hurt. She'll hold a stiff upper lip until you make her in an award-winning ATC:)!
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 9 Profile Beauty
I just have to scratch my head at this one.....I kept putting her on the front page featured top line, but no takers. Please pass the Kleenex....our egos are deflated but our feathers are still upright, our ringlets still tight....but that rose at her breast may start to wilt if she doesn't get some attention. "She dabbed at her nose with the silk handkerchief and cried, 'Oh, Alphonse, your rejection is breaking my heart....' "
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 10 Treasure Chest
I was so certain this would be a favorite image around Christmas. Something 3-D, cut-out, so the chest "opens" to reveal gifts, packages, treats, a message? Alas, the secret of the treasure is still a secret....
Extras for use in the "Love Me Two" Challenge
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 11 The Queen's Secretary
The original postcard has a French greeting on the paper streaming from the typewriter. I made this customizable version and billed her as "Marie Antoinette's secretary." I thought she would be a big hit, but everyone just told me to eat cake...Should I remove the stamp too? Is that the turn-off?
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 12 Boy in the Yellow Shirt
A frog? A butterfly? Something is missing in this scan...along with the fact that my little sweetie has been under-loved:( Is the background too dark?
"Love Me Two" Challenge Choice No. 13 Bon Voyage
The original postcard had an ugly lady in the burst out. I cloned in this beauty. French text, a beauty, what's not there to love? Alas, this trip never got off the ground. She's been stood up! Somebody take her 'round the world, please! Love her and show her a good time!
OK, ladies, I'm eager to see the entries in this challenge! Details and prizes are on Monday's/Tuesday's posts.
I have a doctor's appointment today. Hopefully, a new X-ray will reveal a bone in one piece with no cracks. Then I'll be off to see my nephew. I'll be back on Monday to continue the month of daily downloads. AND I'll announce the winner of the Paris vintage postcards.
A special 'bedankt' to Julia at Cemerony for showing me a way to put my copyright/contact info on scans without detracting from the image.

i love them all.
it's a wonder to me why there aren't takers.
you have such a wonderfully wide range of images..that's what i love!!
love ghost bride..the only thing i might suggest, and which i'm not sure is "good",would be trying the musical note over the bride...may or may not work.
how nasty and unprofessional of that case worker!! her JOB is to help...also,in this economy, any job is great and overtime a plus! perhaps this caseworker needs a new job, where the public isn't involved!!!
ENJOY YOUR BREAK!!! have fun, spoil yourself..have fun!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy about your nephew!!! Now, you and your brother can take a breath and let it out!!!!
You are definitely a Sister and Aunt that anyone would be privileged to have!!!
xo
This is brilliant! It will be easier to coordinate the images into a project and you can get some down time.
Recharge yourself, and wonderful news about your family!
So happy that your nephew is found and being treated and hopefully safe and sound for good now! I hope you get good news from your doctors as well. Thanks for all of the beautiful images. I love when the stamps are on the postcards, but perhaps some folks would like them removed. And I suppose lightening some of the backgrounds might be good - for myself, I would just cut these cuties right out of the image for use on my own backgrounds, so it matters not to me!! :)
I'm glad about your nephew, you've mentioned him before and the worry of him. And I sure hope you can drive soon again. I hope he stays put and progesses.
You don't ask a lot of questions! The only things which jumped out at me (ha ha!) were-
golden lady, thought she was smoking a hookah at first, so maybe make the chinah a bit more obvious...or change it too a hookah why don't you?
boy in yellow- could you give him an orange goldfish? or a green frog? something very small contrasting colour to the yellow?
M-A's secretary- has she been drinking? she's a bit flushed there!
But that's just being picky...I don't see what's wrong with any of them, I like them!!
Whew...I'm so glad there is good news about your nephew. What a time you've all had.
Glad to see all the downloads. And enjoy your mini vacation..that better than break? Relax, watch some movies (Midnight in Paris on DVD) and don't think!!!!
Great idea to take a little holiday! I’m happy to hear the good news about your nephew, too.
I'm glad your nephew is found and that it's going to be ok. And good that you are going to relax finally!
Now here is my very honest opinion of the images.
1. Ghost bride - she does look a bit like she has a black eye, I would prefer her left eye to not have been hit by her future husband, makes me sad!
2. I don't think the lady is very attractive, she's a bit too masculine with the dark eyebrows and the wig. Also, I am not a big fan of the colour pink used in this image - it is on more images, but I prefer the soft tones.
3. Acte baby: I think it's kind of cute. But it's got a feel of being political motivated, of satire. For what occasion should this be used? There seems to be a hidden meaning in it which I don't get.
4.Golden Lady: LOVE her! I added her to my favourites...I was very close to buying her, but the lacey lady with the flowers won. (The other one of the beach was to be used on cards with a bit of humor on it, but those are difficult :)
5. She is prettier then nr.2, but still not my style. Again a lot of candypink, I'd prefer an "old" softer pink.
6. I like this one too :) I think people do need to see how she can be used. Oh that sounds wrong.
7. This could be used for something humorous as well, but indeed maybe the stamp is in the way. An open "wall" invites people to put their own text there or a framed image.
8. Boy in yellow shirt - I thought at first it was a little girl. A modern one, wearing a tie ;) I think it's a fun image, imagine a frog jumping from out of the jar.The background is dark, but I would cut out the silhouette of bench + kid.
9. Not my kind of lady either, and I don't use images with text on it (yet).
All of the above is from the point of view of someone who is kind of new to digital images and only uses them for cards (and I'm new to cardmaking too.)
A few more days then I have time to start making some with your images :)
Trishia what great news about your nephew even if a VERY frustrating process getting it. Agencies seem so counterproductive sometimes...most times! But thank you for all the downloads. I love most of them. My take: #1. Ghost lady is great (I am BIG on Halloween. #2. I love that she is not self- conscience about her "rubenesque" figure & maybe she could be like Marie A. & have a "let them eat cake," comment with her savoir faire aura. 3. There are just a couple things that bother me on this one. What are the brown stripes on her arm? The green book is way bright for the other colors in the photo. 4. She is beautiful & would make a great murder mystery dinner theater invitation (evites?) or some such beside a tea. I love that you can just see the texture of her velvet gown! 5.The feathers, the flowers, the pearls, the colors - what's not to love?Maybe you can do her in red & purple for the red hat society? And some other in colors & text to target specific groups & forward them as a freebie with your © on it & if they use your button! 6. I would not take the maker's mark out! I mean Paris! The potential here is limited only by one's imagination! 7. I would NOT take the stamp from Marie's secretary especial since it is a perfect match for her! 8. A frog would be cute, but one could add their own "catch" from his net as desired. 10. I am as stumped as you on the last one because I already own her & love her & use her so am lost completely on her being unloved by everyone!
Hope this isn't tooooo much!
Thanks again and good luck at your doctor's visit- sending positive thoughts your way. Enjoy your "time off" which I am sure will be jam packed.
I'm praying for your nephew AND for you! ;)
Okay since you asked us what we think might be the trouble with these photos I will put in my 2 and 1/2 cents. You do beautiful work by the way! Just saying-so please don't be offended when I tell you what I think. K?
1. Ghost bride looks more like The Beaten Bride with her left eye being to dark. And the image in front of her makes her look like she can't escape!
2. The woman isn't very attractive to me. And the background might be took dark.
3. Sorry Trisha, I don't think this baby is that cute. His head is too big for his body.
4. The Golden Lady is quite lovely but the table is too bright and it's hard to see what's on the table. This photo is very pretty.
5. Profile Beauty-aahh no. She's not. Her nose is bigger than mine and she has a weak chin. What were they thinking taking a profile of her nose? I can say that because I have a big nose and I wouldn't want a side view shot! Can you give her a nose job? Kind of looks like a man dressed up like a woman?
6. Maybe lighten the color of her sash or bow? And lighten the color of the stamp in the corner-it distracts from what she's doing, I think. Cute photo.
7. Yes, maybe get rid of the stamp. I'm not thrilled with the green and pink? Maybe too much green?
8.This little boy is really cute. But I think his shirt is too yellow. And does the jar have something in it? It's hard to tell. It would be cute if it had a butterfly in it. If it already does-it's hard to see.
9. The french wording is too large. Can you make the image of the lady larger? And less text?
I hope this helps a little and didn't hurt your feelings! Your images are awesome. I hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
Hugs,
Sonya
I know you must be relieved to know that your nephew is safe and in good hands. I am so happy that he has you to look out for him. Thank you for the scans. Hope your bone is mended this time. Until next time...c
Thanks for all the goodies! I already purchased the little boy in the yellow shirt, so he wasn't totally unloved.:) But you are right he needs something in that jar! I think that we could probably pick what that might be...or you could put him on a page that had the postcard of him and an assortment of critters that might inhabit the jar.
I love the woman standing alone and having tea...but where are her friends? Good invite for others to come to tea!
I am having a hard time trying to figure out what might be around ghost bride's dress and veil...
AND I am so happy to hear about your nephew! Hurrah! Lots of prayers answered! Hope your arm heals up quickly...so glad that it stayed where it should.
Have a restful weekend and know that we will be working on your many freebies...can't wait to see all results.
