Month of Daily Downloads No. 22
Before: The original
After: The FrenchKissed version:)
It is easier to do your own altering with the original version, as Gaelle pointed out yesterday,* so I'm including the original image along with my version. As I have commented before, there's a line where shabby chic isn't chic and it's just plain dirty. I was being impatient this morning and didn't want to meticulously clean up the original scan. I wanted to spend my time playing in Pixlr:) For those of you who are crazy about Pixlr like I am, in case you didn't know: there's a mini-version you can download to your desktop, but if you go to their website and work straight from there, that 'retro vintage effects' photo-editing program has more options.
What I love about this postcard is that you can cut out the little girl's photo and add a picture of your own grandchild, pet or whomever! Instead of a photo, the area could be used as a party invitation. Just so many options with this design.
And I thought you might appreciate this:
No date, no postage on the card but on the back, little Marcelle wrote "good kisses to all."
A brief note this morning on Pinterest: one of the sites I love/hate. The average person is not aware (I don't think) that if your image shows up on Pinterest -- whether you put it there or not -- Pinterest reserves the right to sell it! I learned this via this article How You Could Get Sued for Using Pinterest. It bothers me that more and more 'social' media sites are offering these 'free' services when anyone with an ounce of gray matter knows that having a web site is an expensive business. SO we do well to ask ourselves: how is this site making money? The very fact that sites are making money in such subterfuge methods bugs me and goes against my business ethics -- and that's not an oxymoron (despite Wall Street/Bank/Corporation greed). Some of us still take pride in making an Honest Dollar. Without going into a further diatribe about internet abuses, let me just reiterate: if you "pin" one of my images, please pin one with all the ugly watermarks across it from my shops:)
DRUM ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first entries in the "Love Me Two" challenge arrived yesterday from Penny in Maine! Visit her blog and you'll see what she created....
*(Note, I added the de-mistletoed "original" version to yesterday's post.)

WHAT!! " if your image shows up on Pinterest -- whether you put it there or not -- Pinterest reserves the right to sell it!”
People have pinned my stuff on Pinterest (a site I hate, BTW) and I cannot get in touch with some of them - there’s no 'contact me’ button or info or any way to discover who the person is behind the scenes. Most aggravating. Even though I doubt Pinterest would have no desire to sell my images, still, I have lost control and rights?! I’m sure that sooner or later they will be sued by some corporation with big bucks.
But all that aside, thank you for this postcard, she has a very interesting expression!
:-)
Wow that was fast delivery across the country! Now I understand how you were "talking" about me haha ;-) Love today's image - both versions. It will be fun to play with too!
I like the pale and interesting look but have downloaded both - merci!
The writing is so adorable, thank you for including that.
I'd love to have joined in BUT I doubt that Royal Mail (do I have an issue with our Royal Mail, yes I certainly do but will refrain from stepping on my soap box here) would deliver in time for 3rd March so Trishia I am with you in spirit on this one.
Wishes
Lynne
Yeah you really have to read all that really annoying fine print. It's like Quirky. You submit your idea and everyone who add a thought, like hum maybe red instead of blue, gets a cut. Then if you don't accrue the needed amount of points by the "drop dead date of 12-31-whatever year it is, it just becomes theirs and they can still develop and sell it and too bad for you! Entrepreneurship at work, eh? But this is even more devious because someone else can submit YOUR work. Do you know if pixlr works that way on the online version? Shutter! I do so hope not!
Anyway thanks so much for another great gift. That's how I think of you sharing your "bebes" with us! I think the original is kind of another "ghost" image! I love that. And I always love adding my own bebes to the mix on these and they love it too! I did one of your classic ones (EXOTIC_2) for my daughter with her face & hair and the Eagles Hotel California lyrics "Her mind was Tiffany twisted, She got the Mercedes Benz" up one side & across the top of the 8x10 canvas (in Tiffany blue of course) after her fiancee bought her a Tiffany engagement ring and had already gotten her a Benz. She ultimately got rid of him, but still loves the art piece and has it on her wall! <=
I love Penny's work.. I aspire to be half as creative as she is.
Wonderful image for today... glad you take the time to "fix" it for those of us who can't. I really appreciate that. Interesting info on Pinterest.. not a member nor ever would be. I'm sure that's a surprise to a lot of members, doesn't seem right/fair at all.
i so did not know this about pinterest!!...i do beleive i will not use it anymore..don't like the idea that they have the right to sell your stuff!!!..so wrong...downright thievery if you ask me! thanks for letting me know..crap,have i inadvertently caused a problem for my artist friends?
love both images! love the color you did ,and love the original to "alter"!!!
Love what Penny did with the image! just fabulous!!!!
xo
Why doesn't this surprise me about Pintarest? I sometimes wonder whether people will get fed up resulting in a powerful backlash or whether we will just assume this is the norm. I fear the latter.
