Foxy Girl

Month of Daily Downloads No. 27
Momma called her Curls
But the fox called her cruel.

I really like Curls, but I had to get that out of my system and speak up in the fox's behalf....

I love those two curls. A statement perhaps to Momma, with whom she has a good relationship but ... Curls has to show in little ways that she is her own person. Yes, she's prim and proper like a good little girl should be.
But ..
Those curls.
And not just one.
But two.
Just a hint at what was bubbling up in her soul.

Momma has a flyer, advertisement or something rolled up in her hand. Do you think it was a girls' day out, circa 1905 perhaps, and while window shopping, they decided on impulse to dart into a photography studio?
Unfortunately, my postcard offers no information about this couple, who I am assuming are mother and daughter. The printer R. Guilleminot, Boespflug et Cie., did have a Paris address of  22 Rue de Chateaudun (thanks to www.greatwar-photos.org)Today, that address is home to a beauty spa and salon, Le Comptoir Paris Marrakech (Marrakesh as we would say, as in that famous song "Marrakesh Express"). And yes, they also sell crafts/imports from Marrakesh.
Momma could get a manicure and Curls could get facial .... Just don't touch the curls!

Looks like they're both wearing fur... but never could get why anyone would want to wear one of those fox stoles...ugh!!!! It's a great picture never the less.
Thanks again.

Love these old photos and guessing there origins but like marda never got the appeal of the fox stoles - just gruesome. I won't use the back button today!

great postcard..love the photo! those forehead curls!! they almost, but, unfortunately not quite, take my eye away from the fox "stole"! how this ever became popular is beyond me!! so gruesome to have an animal head draped over you! gives me the creeps!! I've seen some in vintage stores, some time back..and they actually have little feet on them, not just heads!!(at least the ones i saw).
thanks so much for another great freebie!

Two lovely ladies with soulful eyes. I do feel bad for the fox. We used to have a fox that would sleep in our window box, so I feel a certain affection for the animals. They are beautiful, curious, cautious, and...did I say beautiful? Not so much when they're dead though.

We have (or had) an old fox fur with head intact in our family. Not sure where it is now, but it is certainly old! Thanks for the great postcard again today!
