Month of Daily Downloads No. 4
Bonjour! I've been awake since 1:30 this morning, so surely no reason to keep you waiting for today's freebie!ha!
There's a part of me that wants to clean up the background and make it pristine. But I like the contrast of the elegant simplicity of the single iris against the soiled, spotted, speckled background. I felt that this iris had a statement to make and if I cleaned it up, we'd miss its point: real beauty stands the test of time. (and it's not the botox kind:)
And yet I can also envision this iris on a post card background or with beautiful French script layered behind it. Much fun can be had with this lovely as is or cut out - manually or digitally.
Here's an example of some color tweaking courtesy of Pixlr, that free photo program I've written about before:
My original card wasn't mailed but it did have a message written on the back, dated Aug. 2, 1907: Ma bonne Marie, Nous ne rentrerons de la campagne lundi dans le soiree, soyez donc assez aimable pour me changer mon jour. There might be some subtlety I'm missing but I get the notion that Marie was someone's secretary?? "My good Marie, we will not return from the countryside Monday evening, so be kind enough to change my day." If my understanding is correct, well, I just have to say that Marie's boss had good taste in postcards:)
Now you know that I'm not in the habit of being brief, but it is the weekend and ... I had a traumatic 24-hours Thursday/Friday, so I'm going to be kind to myself and my arm....I'll fill you in on things later next week....
MERCI beaucoup for all the comments and your efforts in my behalf as FrenchKissed ambassadors:) Whatever you're doing, please keep it up!
Remember, if a new customer comes to my shop and says, "I heard about you from (your name goes here)," then you get at least ONE free scan of your choice. If that new customer spends $30 and qualifies for the SCANdalous Bribery offer which gives them 3 free scans, then you'll get THREE free scans, too!

so sorry you had such bad days!! sending love and hugs and wishes for "feel better"!!!!
Love the iris.. we have hundreds (well that might be an exageration) planted here.. my hubby loves them, one of his favorites. I may have to enlarge one and frame it. Sorry to hear you've a spell of trauma.. again. Take care. I was up at 1:30 too, and 2:30, 3:30, 4:30.. I think I was finally out at 5:30. Hope you do better tonight...me... doubtful!!
This lovely iris reminds me of my dearest Nana. She was a highlight of my life, and she loved iris. She had an oval-shaped iris bed in the front yard. It was beautiful. Thank you for this.
Both versions are beautiful. Thanks for sharing a pic of one of my fave flowers!
