Parisian Past-time of Oogling

Month of Daily Downloads No. 9+
In my quest for the different for a Paris scene but in a different style, I thought you'd like to play with this one. I love red, black and white. It's classy. Paris is classy. So, together they are perfect. So much space to customize and add your own touch. With a 1200 dpi scan of this image, you could have it printed as a poster for wall art! And yes, that's a not-so-subtle plug for my supersized 1200 dpi scans that I sell for $9 extra. Even at this size, 300 dpi, you could enlarge it to an 8 x 10.
Mailed in 1905, this card is one in a series with Paris landmarks depicted in this style. Help me out here? Is this called abstract? Whatever the style, the postcards are rare and I love this one with the two guys oogling the "modiste." Maybe she's "just" a shopping Parisian, but I like to think of her as  a modiste, making a hat delivery to a wealthy client.
Below, here's what's shown in the background outline in the postcard above! With actually two downloads today, I decided to start labeling these posts with a "+'. At the end of the month, you're going to have way more than 29 scans....:)
Look at this moment stopped in time: the man crossing the street as the bicyclist passes and another gentleman carries a heavy load on his shoulders. What gossip were the ladies sharing? Mailed in 1915, the card itself could  be several years old, but still, early 1900s....And before we get too dreamy, remember what Owen Wilson's character says in "Midnight in Paris" -- there's no antibiotics. And the real clincher for me -- should I say "cincher"? -- that always put my time traveling dreams on hold is the corset. I haven't even worn pantyhose in decades.....
According to Wiki, this statue dedicated to the Third Republic of France, was created by two brothers, Leopold and Charles Morice. "Two inauguration ceremonies took place, the first on 14 July 1880 with a gypsum model, and the second on 14 July 1883 with the final version in bronze." The Place de la Republic is located at the convergence of the 3rd,10th and 11th arrondissements. In the opposite direction of the Eiffel Tower, which I suppose explains why I don't recall seeing it:)

Now you can't have my lady outtake, but hey, 2 outa 3 ain't bad:) I think she would make a sweet pendant in a soldered charm. She needs a few Paris words or some kind of script, ephemera add-on. You probably have even better ideas. Share:)

RE: grabbing my button -- I think I figured it out! I think some of you are trying to click and copy on the cancan dancer image. When you do, you get the function disabled message. However, if you click and copy the HTML code in the box below my FrenchKissed cancan logo, that will create my button on your blog. You have to go into your blogger under "add gadget" and look for "add third party HTML." When that window pops open, paste the HTML code from my site and save. Voila! When you look at your blog again, my cancan lady logo should be there:) I know, I know, all this HTML techie geek stuff sucks!! But your efforts in my behalf are appreciated beaucoup!

Now, I'm going to be brief today. I was up most of the night and I spent the morning contacting newspapers and TV stations in regard to my nephew. Pleading with the police department to fax the missing person's report to the newspaper where my nephew was last seen. I feel I'm living in a surreal scene, obessively checking his bank account, hoping against hope to see a new debit charge.. But just glancing at TV and news headlines, I don't have any faith in this story having a happy ending for my nephew. I can tell you one thing. When my arm is well and I can drive, I'm going to Salem and let the powers that be know what I think of their laws to protect mentally ill people's "rights." The style of the poster-like card could be called “graphic”, at least that is how I would describe it.
I love your version!!

The street scene is fascinating, thank you so much Trishia!

Thanks so much Trishia. Love the B&W and of course RED!
Sending you positive thoughts that someone as kind as you has taken your poor nephew under wing & is keeping him safe from himself until you can reconnect. The sad truth is no one can make someone be "better" - when they take their meds they think they are "better" and don't need them, stop taking them and then aren't "better" & won't start them again. The system is not set up to be helpful unless they want help which they don't think they need. What a vicious, painful cycle.
