The Richest Street in the World

Month of Daily Downloads No. 11

The Champs Elysees has absolutely no connection whatsoever to the fact that my nephew's been located, but I had to tell you that news first!! I've been on an emotional roller coaster, talking to my sister-in-law on the phone first thing this morning and hearing my brother in the background on another phone with a nurse at the Gresham hospital, begging her to verify if that is his son who has been missing for a week, but she can't say anything because of the LAW....SO....don't get me started on that. But somewhere along the line with the phone being passed around, a real human being, who also happens to be a parent and knows what the meaning of compassion is, did confirm that our Patrick is alive AND he said he didn't want anyone contacted. So now that I know he's OK, I'll strangle him later as only a loving aunt could do:) We are hoping that if we arrive bearing gifts from McDonald's that we will gain admission, even if only temporary....

For a Paris street scene, can one do any better than the richest street on the world? Maybe I got that wrong, maybe that's hyperbole, but I do believe I've heard that about the Champs Elysees. If not "the" richest, surely in the top 10! And the only thing better than a great piece of architecture on the Champs Elysees is a great piece of architecture with lots of French script!
I have two memories of walking down the Champs Elysees.
One: ordering a salade nicoise, which is a fancy French way of saying mixed green salad with tuna. I asked to take my leftovers with me (very UN-French; they frown on doggie-bags) and the oily tuna and dressing got mixed with my camera....
But my second memory of the Champs Elysees is the one that ruined me for life: I walked up to an ATM machine, put in a piece of plastic and a bunch of pretty colored Monopoly money came spitting out. Ah, this is the life! This, I knew, was my calling. Not to work. Not to have a care in the world. But to have a constant supply of this pretty paper and walk the streets of Paris...
If you go to Wiki and look up Champs Elysees, there is a little link to click on so you can hear it pronounced. In my opinion, it is not hyperbole to say that French is the most beautiful language in the world and when you hear "lay shomz A lee zay" spoken, you will agree.

Now, the hubby and I are getting ready to head west and hopefully see my nephew. We're going to pack a bag and maybe run away ourselves for the weekend. But I will have tomorrow's download all ready for you. And I'm going to end this Week of Paris downloads with an Eiffel Tower because ... how could I not?!
For those new to my blog, if you leave a comment when you help yourself to today's download, you will be entered in a drawing for a batch of vintage (circa 1950-1960 Paris postcards). Leave a comment today and tomorrow, you'll be entered twice. For details and to see a pic of the goodies, click back to Monday's post here.
In the meantime, if you still can't get enough of Paris street scenes, I found another that had 'fallen through the cracks' and it is now relisted in my shops here on Etsy and here on Zibbet.

Oh Trishia, I'm breathing a sigh of relief for you and your family. Hopefully now things can level out for you, and you can stay off that roller coaster for awhile.
Thanks for another great card. Wishing you a somewhat relaxed weekend.

I'm sooo glad your nephew is ok! I was afraid to say much about it as we had a similar situation in our family and that didn't end well.
Thank you for the Champs Elysees image!
I hope too that you can relax now that you know your nephew is safe, you sure do deserve it.
hugs,
Debbie
