"Love Me Two" Challenge for April!

Mes amies, here is (hopefully) a fun variety of images for you to work with in the second "Love Me Two" challenge. (Details at top of blog.) These are images that I consider to be under appreciated, ignored, slighted and overlooked. These are images that say, "Pick me! Pick me! Love me, too!"
However, as a mother tends to overlooks the faults of her adorable brats running loose like the Devil's spawn, I realize that I, too, tend to see my postcards through a lens of bias.
SO....as you help yourself to these downloads, please offer your honest critique. Don't be afraid to say, "Trishia, this image sucks! Whatever were you thinking?!!" The more specific you can be, the better. What exactly, specifically, sucks about it?
In the last month or so, my learning in Photoshop has increased exponentially. And mentally, I've crossed a big hurdle now that I've finally learned to think beyond restoring the postcard to its Golden Days glory and see it critically. More and more I'm re-examining images, asking if the black and white should be warmed with sepia tones or if the sepia has too much yellow in it.
It's not my job to have all the fun with an image, but if it calls for it, I wanna do whatever it takes for others to see its potential. Like in the above example, looking at Marie critically, I decided she had a bad case of jaundice (liver problems? tipping the sauce too much?) and that perhaps a black border would help the pink pop out ....
Is it the background of brown trees that hinders this beauty from getting noticed?
Does she need to be cut out?
Is there no hope for this Paris collage?? I love the classic color combination of red, black and white.
But does the stamp ruin it? Perhaps I need to turn the script right side up:)?
I love my litte safari boy. Alas, I think he's been abandoned to the hyennas. Can you hunt him down and show his true potential?
When I touch a century-old postcard and can still feel the white dots of paint added, I'm impressed. But perhaps in the digital world, it doesn't work well? Should I remove the white dots and brush marks? I think she's so pretty but my lavender lady has been lonely too long. She needs some lovin'!
I'm actually very kind to animals; I don't hunt and would never have a trophy kill on my wall or use it as a rug. But I loved this image:) It just needs the right humorus caption, don't you think? I tried some sepia tones, hoping that might make folks warm up to the image. But I dunno. Should I just mail this card to PETA and tell them I've repented and changed my ways?
I literally worked for hours in Photoshop restoring my cute bathing beauty. Yet, she's sitting on the dock of the bay, totally ignored.
I will add more downloads before the week is out, but here's your first batch to critique and play with!

In the meantime, please keep submitting your KISSED AGAIN! entries! Deadline is the end of this month. Details posted at top of my blog.

I'll be sharing the March "Love Me Two" entries later this week also. I can assure you: the participants are going to receive some marvelous art! So once again, please spread the word about the contests.

Quick question: What amount of time do you usually like to work on a contest? Is one month long enough. Would 2 weeks or 6 weeks be better? Right now -- unless I hear back from you advising differently --  I'm going to put the APRIL "Love Me Two" deadline as April 23, that's 5 weeks away, a week past TAX day here in the US.

Six weeks is better than two for me.

I’ve almost bought the Safari Boy, and I think I decided to get a different card... can’t understand why he’s unloved.

The woman in pink could be better with a different background, but I’m uncomfortable with the colors of her hat.

I love the Lavender Lady just as she is!

4-6 weeks for me..so I can make, re-make, change my mind altogether,
start again...change mind again!!!!
My opinions on today's choices:
Parasol lady.. yes the background sucks
Paris collage just doesn't speak to me, but I DO like the PARIS at the top and could use that.
Safari boy.. to drab
Lavender lady... fine as is
Bear rug girl...nope, just not me.

Six weeks sounds better!

The lady with the parasol needs a different background. And her hat is too pink-maybe a little more faded?

The Paris collage is too busy. Don't know what to look at first. And lose the stamp-it's just another distraction.

The safari boy. The photo is too faded to me.

I don't have a problem with the lavender lady.

The little girl on top of the bear rug? Well, you should have a caption saying, "Yes, I DID eat your porridge, what are you going to do about it?" :)

And the top pic of the lady in sepia and then you changed it to white with black trim? How about black trim on the sepia? I like the sepia tone better-just needs the black border.

Just sayin'...

Have a wonderful week!

Merci once again Trishia for your vintage images. I am planning on using your Lavender Lady in a tag swap I am participating in with my local Craft Club - I will try to let you see what I create and join in with this challenge...
I love the bathing beauty, and Marie in both options - have saved them for future use. So do hope you don't mind me snaffling more than one image today!
Paris - I would prefer the script the right way round - the bear rug is not me at all and the pink lady - I think the contrasts in her colours is too harsh for me against the brown.
Thanks once again for your generosity - or as we say Gura Mie Ayd. J x

The colorations seem too bright. Try using a softer more faded look on these old photos. The colors shouldn't look so obviously retouched, since naturally they would have faded with time.

A quick scan tells me that the Bathing Belle is definitely my cup of tea and can see me working with her but possibly would prefer a softer background but I do like her.
Girl with bear - definitely potential for some fun but don't think I am the girl to do it.
Lady with parasol - I do like her but not the trees, if using her I would imagine I would select her only, discarding the trees.
Paris - As much as I adore Paris, this isn't speaking to me which is a pity.
You are so generous that someone it doesn't seem appropriate to critique those images.

Regarding deadline, if you are hoping for International entries then I would say it has to be at least one month.

regading deadlines, if it's very far out I tend to forget about it or get interested in something else and then not want to change projects. I wouldn't put the deadline out more than one month. I've found that most everyone waits until the last minute to meet deadlines, so whether it's a month of 6 months, most people will wait until close to the end of the deadline.

I think six week please. Anyone can finish it and send it sooner if they choose, but some of us have a lot going on... like you!
1. I am probably the only one who doesn't like Marie. I like my Art Deco more flowing and organic and Muse or Nymph like. She seems much more Victorian to me.
2.Parasol Lady is really pretty, but like others mentioned the pink in her hair is too bright and the trees could use a color blush & some blue sky so it doesn't look like the ruins of Tara.
3. On the other hand. I may be the only one who likes Paris - sans the stamp. And while it would be nice to have the script right side up, I can see the possibility for a little humor there or blank it out and add your own text.
4. I like Safari Boy just the way he is, but don't have much occasion for that sort of genre.
5. Lavender Lady is very pretty, but her background doesn't seem to fit her.
6. Sonya's comments on rug girl were perfect and gave me a really good laugh out loud! Thanks Sonya.
7. Bathing Beauty is really a cutie and nothing wrong with her just need the right project. I can see her on the cover of a beachy journal.
