Mes amies, I hope you aren't tired of my little French kiddos. I realize I haven't been offering much variety this past couple of months, mostly boys and girls. But they are so darn cute:) I've wanted to share this little girl for a long time cause I love her look (I sense a touch of sassiness in her!) and I love her polka dot dress!
In fact, I was so enamored with her dress that -- believe it or not -- I never really paid attention to what was in her baskets. Yep, those are fish! Didn't notice that till this morning when I began cleaning up the image and tweaking the colors. The French are not super clear themselves on how fish, fools and love got all tangled up into this April 1 tradition. Fools and love have long walked hand in hand for eons, but the fish part....Well. Let's just say it's a French thing and move on.....
OMG...speaking of moving on. I wish I was. I'm in limbo and it's driving me nuts. All the professional, licensed moving companies are based in Portland or Vancouver, which is about an hour and a half away. So although we've called and emailed a half-dozen companies, they are not beating down our door with a rapid response. So I'm surrounded in a maze of boxes, stuck here, while the hubby is at our new home working at his new job.
Besides packing, I'm busy selling large furniture items via Craigslist in our downsizing efforts. I'm sure you know how exhausting that the haggling process with email and phone exchanges can be. And unfortunately, I've already fallen prey to one email scammer, so if you get a message from me with a link to some nefarious web site, I apologize in advance and I assure you it's not from me. I'm only selling furniture, not viagra or watches from Hong Kong .....
Anyway, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to add your own flowers to this little girl's baskets! She's in an interesting pose. You might cut her out and put her in a whole new scenario. The text at the bottom is precious:
I am a little child but my tenderness is big. You can judge for yourself by this beautiful offering.
My original postcard was mailed March 31, 1011.
The sender wrote: Cherchez qui vous l'envoie. (Find out who sent this to you.)
Ah, a secret admirer!:)
NOW....as for this week's lucky winner of two free scans -- I had mentioned before that I still haven't officially established my rules on repeat winners, whether I limit it to once a month or what. Well, this week, I had my first repeat winner, so I thought, OK, I think I'll simply "random" click again. Got the SAME number! So the way I figure it: I better not mess around with Fate:) Congratulations again to The Painting Queen!
Crystal, you've got 2 free scans to pick out! Just email me your requests, your choice from either Etsy or Zibbet ,$3.99 or under.
PS Does anyone who works in Photoshop know the 'secret' to creating a translucent flesh color?

xo
She is adorable!! Thank you again. I work with Photo Shop and just make my flesh colour very transparent but that isn't anything you don't know. Hope you get big, hunky movers soon. Hugs, Jean
I love the polka dot dress..in fact I love polka dots period. I just bought some really sweet polka dot fabric to make a summer dress for my granddaughter.
You've managed to get your moving going at the most busy time of year for movers. I know from previous experience. Hopefully someone will have an opening.. since you're not moving a great distance. Just have to keep calling every week if necessary, to keep you in their minds. Good luck. The other option... a GREAT big U-haul!!!! Ha. (Another POX on scammers!)
She is darling, thank you, I never get tired of those children's images, my favorites!! Hugs Mrilou
You make my Mondays very special, thank you! This little girl is wonderful and I love polka dots.
How are you using this translucent flesh color? You can always change the opacity of your layer and/or your action (like brushstrokes).
Thank you Trishia, she is adorable. Best of luck with the move.
Hugs Alveen
What I'm calling translucent flesh color is like the almost airbrushed looking white glowing faces one sees on, say, Paper Whimsy graphics....Now on my sepia version here, I did create a second layer for the face and lighten it, brighten it just a bit,but I keep thinking there's a way to really make the flesh pop out from the background--- I just don't know how to do that:)
I never tire of these sweet little children, Trishia. I love polka dots --- this one os so sweet. I send blessings your way for a smooth move.
Trishia
Keep the little ones coming as they are so adorable.
The fact this was sent from a secret admirer makes it all the more adorable.
Good Luck with the moving and selling of furniture.
Wishes
Lynne
So so cute! Fish in the basket or not...Seems you have a theme going these last two weeks. Are you going to miss your view? I imagine there will be very little fishing and boating being done in the creek, but it is still a magnificent view.
Thanks for the sweet freebie!
Thanks, Trishia. She's a cutie. Did you check out "Neve Tzedek" images on Google? It's a quaint little part of Tel Aviv which I love. You will really enjoy seeing photos of this beautiful part of Israel.
Thanks for the scan; she's a cutie.
All the best from Israel. Shalom, Lili
I saw POLKA and I was ready to pull out my accordion. OK, never mind.
Good luck getting movers...I guess this is a popular moving time too.
Ugh, limbo is miserable! I had to move by myself from Taos, NM to VA Beach, VA - hubby had to be in VA working!
Had to get the dog on a plane, get the cars hauled to VA, pack, work with the moving co. And work my reg job!
I feel for u, it will be all over soon!
She is toooo adorable Trishia. Thanks so much. Her face is precious & love the polka dots also. Job moves - ugh! My worse was my husband in Alabama, me in California with backed up sewer on floors & in tubs & leaking roof running down living room walls like a water fall! What to do? Go shopping for new black leather boots of course! Hope you get a hunky mover like your Robert Downey Jr. tech! Now that would make packing worthwhile! Love craigslist - hate the scammers! Hope this is all behind you soon and you are comfortably settled into your saltwater pool with your sweetie.
Hmmm, thought I left a comment on this little girl. I love her Polka Dot dress! I know how draining moving can be. Make sure you do give your shoulder enough rest so you don't have to start all over on your rehab due to a strain from moving. :-)
Oh, and I know what you mean about the translucent skin tone. I'm still working on an easy way to do it, too. My latest way of trying is the same method I used to turn the "Little Clear Eye Girl" eye's green. Hmmm, let me find my instructions again and see if that gives you the effect you want. I think this is the one I used... http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/eye-color/
This is such a lovely image - thaks for sharing her!
I'm a big fan of the sepia-toned image; the stamp looks great too. Nice work, again, Trishia!
I don't know if this is what you are looking for Trisha, but our friend Jerry recently posted an interesting sunwashed technique.
