You've Got Mail!
Mes amies, when in doubt as to what kind of postcard image to pick from the myriad of choices in my collection, I know that good old French script will always be appreciated. So today I'm shifting gears from real photo postcards to this piece of ephemera, a "diamond in the rough." Creases, smudges and all (and this after I cloned off some of the ink smear:) The red and white Paris "R/116" sticker is my fav, but I also love the "Recommande" at the top. That's the French equivalent to sending something registered.
Now, I have something to tell you. It's a good news/bad news scenario. I've debated with myself as to whether or not to mention it now, but I don't like it when someone drops a 'surprise' on me at the last minute and I wouldn't want to do it to you.
I'll start with the good news first! I'm going to continue to offer free weekly scans to my fellow Francophiles and vintage lovers ..... BUT .... I'm going to put my blog on hold for awhile. I'm continuing through the month of July, but in true French fashion, I'm going to use August as my "vacation" month. After a month away, I'll reconsider things, but ... my little voice is telling me that after more than 500 posts in the past 2 and 1/2 years, I'm ready to answer other callings, such as the illustrated novels and cozy mysteries that I've often mentioned but not manifested.
However, WHEN I make my trip to France (knock on wood, laminate, granite, glass and anything else you can think of for good luck:) I will blog about that, bien sur!
This week's winner of two free scans is that uber talented Marj Meikrantz of Idaho who is No. 1 in more ways than one. Marj, you know how it works -- just email me:) Congratulations and merci beaucoup, Marj!
PS Ignored all the boxes that still need unpacking and treated myself to a swim in the pool today. Just me with a huge 7-foot deep pool all to myself. The guest registry showed one other person had been in earlier today but overall, the pool is sadly not utilized. Well, I was looking up at the wooden ceiling that retracts to blue skies on hot days, doing my arm exercises and "playing" in the water on my back, making raspberry noises with my mouth. It's what I call my Evinrude imitation. Imagine my surprise when, upon coming up out of the water to make a U-turn, I see a smiling face sticking out of the door to the men's dressing room! I looked at the gentleman and laughed. "Well, I have to entertain myself somehow." He never did come in for a swim:)

French Script IS always appreciated. :-) So little 'ol you scared the big man away, eh? That's too funny. Thanks for the chuckle.
I also love the couple in the boat from last week. My sister was in the hospital all last week, so guess that's how I missed it. She's home now, and doing much better after 2 surgeries. Whew!
If you decide to wind down you blog for good after your vacation month in August...I will miss your sense of humor and all the fun things you talk about and show. All things have their time, and if your blog has become more work than fun, its time to find a new outlet for your creativity. I wish I'd discovered your blog earlier. You've made the start of my day very enjoyable checking in to see what new or different or fun thing you've had to say on your blog.
You have had a whale of a year so far, I'm hoping a blog-cation will re-charge you and you'll want to continue. Either way, it's been very fun getting to know you. :-)

Well Trishia.. you know I'll miss your blog and can only hope you'll keep it up after August even if it's a limited version. Maybe after some down time you'll miss it and us!! Love this image of the postcard. WOW I WON.. ha..that's a major rarity. SO you thought you were all alone there in the pool.... that is a funny story. Have a good week girlfriend.
The French script is gorgeous, thank you Trishia:)
I don't always take the time to visit blogs much, but yours is always entertaining and you will be missed.
Have a wonderful vacation.
Wendy
Will definitely miss you but with all that has been taking place in your life, I'd say it is exactly what you need, time away.
We would visit you whether or not there were freebies on offer - you do know that?
Thanks for this, it is exactly what I am in need of as I have been using one of your postcard backs repeatedly .
I will be in contact this week (you will remember the reason!) so I don't need to trouble you on your time off.
Wishes
Lynne
P.S. Good that you had some time to yourself in that pool
You have earned a holiday. I hope you do get to go to France. I envy you that empty pool though. What a treat.
A blog vacation sounds like a great idea. Hope you have a great time and have the opportunity to make lots of raspberry sounds in water. If you decide to not continue your blog, I'll miss reading your humor and love for all things French, and of course seeing your wonderful postcards ... but will certainly understand that sometimes it's time to move on. Good luck to you whatever you decide and know that I have enjoyed your blog very much.
Love the French Script. Merci Trishia. You certainly deserve a blog break, especially after the year you have had, but you know we will miss you & your interesting & unique stories. Evinrude in the pool - too funny! Guess you have amended the saying "dance" to "swim" like no one is watching!
LOL!!! You are too funny!
I am always happy with script, in fact, have bought a few from you in the past because I like them so much...thanks for this one. I love it!
Your stories each week will be sadly missed by me, but a vacation is a good thing. Have a great August!
Blessings!
You know how much I love postcard backs ;-)and this is a terrific one - wonderful script and stamps! I've been so bad about visiting blogs and really enjoyed catching up with you on yours - enjoy your time off! Relax and have lots of fun. All your friends will never go away.
Bon Jour Miss Trish! As always coming to visit your site is a delight! So many new and exciting things happening. I hope you are well and enjoying the summer. Thanks for all the great offerings to give us each week! And, for the beautiful images in your shops.
Thanks, Trishia! Those colorful stamps in the corner are awesome!
